Some examples of Cultural Exchanges sponsored
by CUP or CKSCP:
- Preview of the documentary film, “Under Fire,” at
the Fath Auditorium in the Cincinnati Art Museum. The film relates
the stories of Soviet women combat veterans of WWII.
- Kharkiv ceramicist comes to Cincinnati for five weeks to participate
in Clay, Color and Fire: A Collaborative International Mosaic
Project. Mosaic tiles are made to decorate the Friendship Pavilion.
- The Kharkiv dance group Kontrast comes to Cincinnati for two
weeks to participate in Middfest 2002—20 Years/25 Countries.
Kontrast also performs on Fountain Square at a lunchtime event.
- Associate Professor of Arts Administration from the University
of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music travels to Kharkiv
for six days to give lectures and workshops on arts administration
for alumni of the 2001 Community Connections arts administration
program and other arts administrators from the Kharkiv area.
- A photographer, a jazz instrumental trio, and an a cappella
quartet travel to Kharkiv as the cultural contingent of the 1999
Official Delegation to Kharkiv.
- Ukrainian Children's Music Theatre of Kharkiv and Kharkiv Boy's
Choir in Cincinnati for 2 weeks - programs include "Carolfest"
with May Festival Chorus, Cincinnati Brass, Cincinnati Youth Chorus,
Madcap Productions & many area schools and churches.
- Kharkiv pianist guest soloist with Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra
in sell-out concert.
Sports Exchanges
Some examples of Sports Exchanges sponsored by
CUP or CKSCP:
- Olympic gymnastics champion, Rustam Sharipov, visited Cincinnati
as part of the 1998 Official Delegation. He observed, taught,
and demonstrated his gymnastic skills at the Cincinnati Gymnastics
Academy and Queen City Gymnastics.
- Member of Cincinnati Cycle Club travels to Kharkiv as the guest
of Club Temp to further this area of sports exchange.
- Alexander Zinoviev, President of the Kharkiv Cycling Club, visits
the U.S. at the request of the Cincinnati Bicycle Club.
