These exchanges dealt a variety of social topics
including disaster relief, veterans, environmental concerns, handicapped
issues, substance abuse, family services, women's issues, freedom
of religion, and freedom of the press.
Some examples of Social Concerns & Individual
Liberties Exchanges sponsored by CUP or CKSCP:
- Two Cincinnatians travel to Kharkiv to film interviews for use
in a documentary of Soviet WWII women combat veterans. This continues
the project called, “Under Fire: Soviet Women Combat Veterans
of World War II."
- Four Kharkivites travel to Cincinnati for US Department of State
Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement/SCI Domestic
Violence Prevention Training Program NGO Exchange.
- Funds are donated to CKSCP from the Children’s Hospital
Medical Center of Cincinnati Community Outreach Response Team
for the purchase of medications for a TB clinic in Kharkiv. The
medicine is presented to the clinic in Kharkiv during the Official
Delegation to Kharkiv.
- Shipment of Braille books officially presented to the Hirschman
Library for the Blind in Kharkiv.
- In response to water crisis in Kharkiv and outbreak of Hepatitis
A, CKSCP sends a sea container with over $90,000 worth of medical
supplies, including IV set-ups and solutions to Kharkiv.
